The competition, which was launched last Friday (1 September) and will run until 31 December, calls on interior designers, architects, printers, brand owners and students from around the world to submit their best designs using at least one product from the Antalis Coala range.
Coala encompasses products including self-adhesive vinyls, wallpapers, textiles and canvas and magnetic supports.
A panel including major international players from the world of design, presided by scenographer François Confino, will then decide on the stand-out projects.
Themed around the ‘just print your imagination’ concept, the competition will reward the finest completed projects as well as projects underway from the period of 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2017.
Professionals can compete in one or several of the following categories: Hospitality, Restaurant, Retail, Office, Home and Public premises.
The winners will be announced in March 2018 and will receive extensive media coverage in the press partners of the competition: Wallpaper and Intramuros. Winners will also benefit from visibility on social media, Antalis’ website and at international trade shows attended by Antalis such as Architect@Work and Retail Expo.
For professionals and students who don’t have any completed or current project to submit, Antalis is offering the possibility of using blank 3D models which they can reinvent with products from the Coala range.
The winners of this element of the competition will also benefit from media exposure as well as receiving €3,500 (£3,215) and €2,000 for first and second prize respectively. Furthermore, they will have the opportunity to bring their ideas to life by redesigning parts of Antalis’ headquarters or one of the group’s subsidiaries.
A special cross-category award will be given to the participant whose project receives the most ‘likes’ on the Antalis Interior Design Award website.
Following the competition, a book that showcases the best pieces of work will be produced. 10,000 copies will be published and these will be distributed to trade media, museums, architecture firms, design agencies and designers.
Antalis UK head of marketing for Visual Communications Katie Farr said: “As visual communication media has evolved to become even more sophisticated over recent years, it is now playing an increasingly important part of the interior design mix, favoured with those seeking a bolder approach and more creative design freedom.
“With this in mind, our competition has been designed to reward and recognise those individuals around the globe who continue to break new boundaries in the creative concept through the use of this important medium.
“The competition has been purposely designed to be as simple and inclusive as possible; the only criteria is that entrants must have used a Coala product in their design, and a range of categories means there is an option for everyone, from designers and architects already using our products, through to students and other new entrants.
“We really do have some of the most hardworking, talented creatives here in the UK, so we’d urge all possible candidates to get involved in this competition– it’s a great opportunity to give them the credit they deserve on an international platform.”
