Antalis launches The Review 2017

Antalis is calling on printers as well as designers to enter its long-established industry awards event, now in its 26th year, to reflect a welcome resurgence of interest in print.

The Antalis Review Awards celebrate work in the printed medium and aim to highlight some of the most talented designers and printers in the industry.

Two overall awards, one for print and one for design, will be announced during the awards ceremony on 21 September 2017, which will take place at London darts venue Flight Club.

Other categories include best direct mail, best recycled and, newly introduced last year, best in digital and best in litho print. Last year's awards attracted 470 entries; this year Antalis expects 500.

Antalis channel director for print, sign and display James Jarvis said: “The awards started out as an event to share ideas and examples of work among designers.

“Over the years more of them have moved away from having their own print production people and knowledge within the design community has gone down.

“But the conversation has come around to how multi-channel campaigns including print are much more effective than simply putting everything online. There is a resurgence in the use of print.

“People therefore want more speciality papers and different ideas and that's where the awards and the Review book come in. Last year we sent it to 2,000 of our creatives after the event.

“Print companies are becoming increasingly interested because lots of their customers are designers, so this event is great for networking.”

Entrants are invited to submit design pieces printed on Antalis’ paper stock between September 2016 and 4 July 2017, which is also the official closing date for entries. Work will be judged by a panel of independent industry experts.

Judges will be looking at design, use of the material, innovation and talent. All finalists will be invited to the awards event, appear in The Review book and online and receive an award.

The categories for the Antalis Review Awards 2017, which are themed around the concept of 'Make Your Mark' are:
