The new Bobst Novacut 106 ER 3.0 will improve capacity and flexibility on Amipak’s production lines as the business caters to rising demand for its services.
The two companies shook on the deal at Bobst’s booth at Drupa in Düsseldorf in June, and Croydon-headquartered Amipak will take delivery of the machine this month.
The Novacut 106 ER 3.0 delivers automated inline blanking separation that streamlines carton processing and eliminates the need to manually strip waste from die-cut work.
The device joins another Bobst machine purchased by Amipak in 2021 and marks the latest upgrade to its 9,290sqm of production and warehouse space.
Dan Schwitzer, director of communications and sustainability at Amipak, said: “At Amipak we are committed to supporting our customers with the service and flexibility they expect, and as the business grows, we need to upscale our capacity.
“Our production demands have grown significantly so efficient die-cutting machines are essential to keeping things running smoothly.
“Having previously invested in a Bobst machine in 2021, we were delighted with the shorter lead times and increased capacity it has helped us achieve.”
He added: “As we looked to expand our production to match the growing demand for our leakproof foodservice packaging range, partnering with Bobst again was the obvious solution.
“The purchase of the Bobst Novacut 106 ER 3.0 follows more than £4m of investment in our production over the last few years, which has significantly increased our capacity.
“This has ensured that as the foodservice market expands, we are ready to support our customers with high quality, innovative and dependable packaging.”
Craig McGowan, area sales manager at Bobst, added: “Amipak is a leader in the foodservice packaging sector so we were very happy to see the team was so impressed by our Novacut 106 ER 3.0 that it decided to invest in another.
“At Bobst, we pride ourselves on building ongoing partnerships with our customers, and it was a delight to catch up with Amipak at Drupa this year and support the business in the next stage of its journey.”
According to its full accounts for the year ended 31 May 2023 filed at Companies House, third generation family business Amipak recorded a turnover of £23.4m with a pre-tax profit of just over £854,000. It employed just over 90 staff.
