AlphaGraphics in Xerox press move

Two AlphaGraphics franchises have invested in Xerox digital colour presses, in a bid to expand capacity and improve productivity.

The Stockton-on-Tees site has doubled its colour capacity with the addition of DocuColor 6060 and 2045 digital colour presses, as part of a continued expansion in the North East.

AlphaGraphics' Nottingham site purchased a DocuColor 6060 and a Xerox DocuTech 6135, which has increased its production output by 40%.

Although the firm looked at alternative suppliers, its 10-year relationship with Xerox made the choice a relatively easy one. But extensive research and negotiations were still conducted with other suppliers.

Jeremy Thompson-Jewitt, managing director of AlphaGraphics Nottingham,  said the company purchased the DocuColor 6060 and DocuTech 6135 to provide higher productivity and help lower its cost-base.

"We recognised that the colour market was changing fast, and the 6060 has increased our volume of prints by 40%, due to improved productivity."

He said the deal was not only right in terms of equipment selection, but that price was also competitive.

The 6135 has enabled the firm to cope with larger files, while maintaining a higher RIP speed.

AlphaGraphics Stockton and Nottingham are part of the Pindar-owned AlphaGraphics network, which was the preferred print supplier for the Commonwealth Games in 2002.
