The Sheffield arm of the high street print franchise took delivery of the GAE-supplied Horizon APC-61II 61cm to finish both its litho and digitally-printed work.
The £2m-turnover firm chose the Horizon guillotine model after looking at other machines on the market, but decided the Horizon APC-61II was the best value for money.
The Horizon features an icon-based touch screen and a 99-job memory. It offers a range of functions including even-divide cutting, total cutting, repeat cutting and compressing.
Alphagraphics owner John White said: "We wanted more production and greater accuracy with the new guillotine."
He added: "Now we get through a lot more jobs and it means there isn’t a bottleneck at the guillotine any more. It has given us an ease of operation we hadn’t enjoyed before."
The APC-61II is also far ahead of Health and Safety legislation, according to White. He said: "Legislation changes so quickly but this machine will be compliant for many years to come."
The 18-staff firm produces a range of print from brochures to posters for a client base that includes local government bodies, educational establishments and local business.
The Sheffield firm operates a press room that includes a Xerox DocuColor250 and two Xerox DocuTechs.
