The firms announced the deal at the opening of annual newspaper exhibition Ifra.
Both products have been discontinued to new customers, although existing users will be able to upgrade their software and, for a limited time, buy additional DMX platesetters.
Under the deal 20 research and support staff will transfer from E-G to Agfa.
E-G had been looking to dispose of its newspaper operations along with several others as part of a strategic review announced at the beginning of the year (PrintWeek, 23 January).
