Agfa and Creo in newspaper workflow tussle

Agfa and Creo squared up for a battle in newspaper workflow at Ifra.

Agfa launched Arkitex, a new workflow to replace Intellinet and Plateroom Manager that combines the features of both.

At the heart of Arkitex is the workflow management module Director, which is based on Plateroom Manager. That came from Autologic, which Agfa acquired in September 2001.

Meanwhile Creo has acquired the rights to the Intellinet workflow management module NewsFlow, which was developed for Agfa by Italian firm Hit Internet Technologies.

Its a great opportunity to engage with larger newspaper publishers, said Creo corporate vice president Boudewijn Neijens.

The firms are fighting for 700 sites using Intellinet and whether they stick with the software or the supplier.
