Administrators to sell Walsall

Administrators for the Walsall Print Company are hoping the business will be sold as an going concern, following its move into administration.

The 6m turnover label printing business, part of the Walsall Print Group, went into administration with the loss of 35 jobs.

Financial services group PKF was appointed to the 111-year-old Walsall-based print firm on 1 December, with the staff being made redundant from its 80-strong workforce.

However, other firms in the Walsall Print Group, which includes Walsall Security Printers, are unaffected and continue to trade normally.

PKF partners Ian Gould and Brian Hamblin were called in by the directors, following problems caused by "severe competition".
Hamblin said that since the placement of an advertisement for the sale of the business in the Financial Times on 6 December, there had been "considerable interest".

"We are talking to customers and continuing to review the business," he said.
