Active Signs calls in administrators

Sign manufacturer Active Signs has gone into administration, with the majority of its staff being made redundant.

Mark Newman and Vince Green of Vantis Business Recovery Services were appointed to the Ramsgate-based company on 26 February.

Around 70 staff were made redundant immediately, with a further 10 staff staying on as the company continues to trade.

Vantis is actively seeking a sale of the business and is understood to be talking to a number of interested parties.

Newman said: "The business was sadly forced into administration due primarily to a lack of working capital. We are working closely with the management team to assess the opportunities to rescue all parts of the business."

An announcement on the future of the business, which recorded a turnover of £9.3m in both 2007 and 2008, is expected in the coming weeks.

Active Signs designed, manufactured and installed illuminated signs, printed signs and point-of-purchase materials. It had digital and screen printing facilities.
