The Corby-based business was founded as a screen printer but technical sales director Vince Meeks felt that moving to digital was "the natural progression" for the printer.
The five-staff company took delivery of the 2.5x3.05m machine three weeks ago and expects the kit to open up new markets while also cutting turnaround times on certain jobs at the Northants business.
Meeks said being able to print direct to board will significantly increase the efficiency of the work it does.
He said: "For us, investing in the Acuity Advance X2 means investing in the future of wide-format print.
"When researching all the different technologies available on the market today, we realised that it was possible to offer our customers a digital option without having to compromise on quality and resolution."
Action Screen also runs screen equipment and two Grenadier solvent printers. It was established in 1992.
