700 Indian paper traders meet in Malaysia

The 49th annual general meeting (AGM) of the Federation of Paper Traders' Association of India was recently held in Malaysia. The AGM was hosted by Madras Paper Merchants' Association, Chennai.

S Subramaniam, minister of human resources to the government of Malaysia, inaugurated the AGM, which was attended by over 700 paper traders from India.

According to a study by paper industry association (Assocham), the per capita paper consumption in India now stands at 9.18 kg against 8.3 kg last year.

Thanking the gathering for giving him an opportunity to preside during the paper industry's growth period, Harshad Shah (popularly known as Bacchubhai), said: "Being president of the federation has meant having discussions and exchanges which bring to life insights, strategies and best practices in the paper trade in India."
