The £15m-turnover company, which is one month into the program, is focusing on its finishing and paper enclosing departments but plans to roll the programme out to other areas of the business.
Lance Hill, 4DM group sales and marketing director, said that the company had decided to work with Vision in Print after hearing of good results from Eclipse Colour, which acquired a 10% stake in 4DM in February as part of a five-year merger strategy, and has worked with Vision in Print since 2006.
Hill said: "The team from Vision in Print has already identified a number of areas that we can improve on to boost our efficiency. We want to reduce the time we spend on set-up and makeready. We are already quite efficient but small tweaks can deliver big savings."
4DM has recently recruited a dedicated web-to-print specialist in a bid to develop the technology side of the business.
Owen Purkis, who started in his role as business development manager last Monday, came from Just Digital and has more than 19 years' experience in sheetfed and web production as well as digital print, including web-to-print and new media solutions.
Hill added; "We wanted to push the web-to-print side but we did not have the right presence on the sales side before to push it. We had been looking for the right person for a while. We’ve always had the technical ability and have proven that we can build and deliver bespoke online platforms for web to print, PURL’s and variable QR codes, we just need someone to get the shop window right and I firmly believe Owen is the right person to do this."
