For the latest version of its Apogee workflow, Agfa went back to the drawing board with its imposition package, leaving long-time tool Preps on the shelf. In moving from the Kodak template-based package to its own automated intelligent estimating, the company claims to have made customers’ lives much simpler and the results more accurate.
According to Agfa, before Apogee, Impose customers could have thousands of imposition templates created to cater to the slightest change in imposition scheme caused by slightly different sheet and page sizes. The new software takes as much production information as possible from the MIS via JDF or, for simpler set-ups, a wizard guides the user through the process.
