60-seconds with… PMG Print Management

The original business was founded in 1990 and was called Proof and Print. Mike Roberts took over the business back in 2004 and initially had a team of three: himself, a graphic designer and a production assistant.

Mike also purchased sister company Wentworth Business Services, combining the two businesses as PMG Print Management. Over the last 14 years PMG has steadily grown and now lays claim to being one of the UK’s leading independent print management companies.

Where are you based?
Birstall, just outside Leeds - right in the heart of Yorkshire

How many staff do you have?
Currently 15, although we’ll be looking to expand this in 2018 as we continue to grow the business

What does your firm do?
We advise on the latest advances in technology, recommending the most innovative production methods, in order to improve the performance of our clients’ print and campaign results.

Which markets do you serve?
We serve clients in a variety of sectors, but our main focus is on the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom industry, B2B catalogue companies and also the automotive and retail sectors

What’s your USP?
Where we differentiate ourselves is in understanding our clients’ print needs from the drawer to the door, and working with them to suggest more cost effective manufacturing

What’s been your proudest achievement in the past few years?
Breaking the £3m revenue mark last year. We are now aiming for sales in excess of £4m this year

Where do you see your business in five years’ time?
Achieving substantial growth. We have recently created a new business development team, so it’s all guns blazing for growth and development!

What’s your team’s favourite biscuit?
Tricky! Particular favourites are Hob Nobs, Custard Creams and Tunnock’s Caramel Wafers. For me though, I’d have to that say, you can’t go wrong with an old fashioned Bourbon!
