Wye Media owner Chris McGowan said the Mutoh machine had enabled the 15-year-old company to achieve a greater level of control over its wide-format capabilities.
He said: "We were taking on a lot of wide format work, but didn’t have a suitable printer for the job – we had to outsource everything.
"This meant that we weren’t in control of the process or costs and as the volumes increased we decided to invest in a device so that we could bring the work in-house."
The company's new ValueJet 1304 can print on substrates up to 1355.5mm wide and at speeds up to 14sqm an hour on banner and soft signage materials.
Holding a list price of just under £10,000, McGowan said the company analysed a range of printers that met the firm's quality and application requirements.
He added: "As part of the process, Design Supply presented the eco-solvent Mutoh ValueJet 1304 to us and the decision was made.
"This printer not only offered us great value in terms of a low capital investment, but also the flexibility and quality we needed."
The Mutoh ValueJet printer 1304 can fulfil a range of applications that include posters, banners, backlit signage, POS displays as well as signs and stickers.
According to McGowan, the printer has given the company an extra revenue stream.
"We can also take on different jobs now and offer point of sale poster printing, roller banners, outdoor signage and vinyl graphics and we plan to offer much more to our customers using the Mutoh in 2013," he added.
