ViP events plot course to better margins

Vision in Print (ViP) is hosting a series of June events focused on boosting printers' margins by sharing insights and 'takeaways' on improving workflow, reducing waste and implementing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Following on from a study of SMEs' implementation of pre-press workflows, MIS and web-to-print, ViP found that many companies were not getting the most out of systems, highlighted by the fact that there was ten-fold variation in the labour-cost per plate across the 12 companies interviewed.

"So we’ll be looking at how to get the best out of your systems by going back to the basic principals of implementing an effective strategy and giving delegates the tools to do just that," said BPIF commercial director Richard Gray.

The seminars will also look at how firms can reduce waste in the face of rising paper costs. According to Gray, the waste levels for the average sheetfed printer run at around 8%, 2% of which can easily be removed by following the simple steps that will be covered in each of the three seminars.

Operational performance management, through the effective uses of KPIs, will be the final focus of the three dates.

"We’re virtually guaranteeing that delegates will leave with at least half a dozen practical things that their business could implement and benefit from almost immediately," said Gray.

The Better Margins seminar roadshow will be visiting Reading on 21 June, Birmingham 23 June and Wakefield on 29 June.  Each day costs £100, for BPIF members, and £120 for non-members with reductions for multiple delegates from the same organisation.
