TeckStorm is a five-colour digital printer, including white. It handles substrates between 1.22m and 2.44m and up to 50mm thick at speeds of 9.38sqm per hour in quality mode and 18.44sqm per hour in production mode.
Teckwin says the machine aims to fill a gap in the market for ultra high quality, large-format UV printing, which it believes was only previously available on slower wide-format and laser and photographic machines.
The machine’s UV lamp curing system is fitted with shutters, which provide accurate curing for the optimal ink adhesion to substrate, while reducing exposure of the media by up to 50%.
Its easy-to-control ink supply includes ink alligators inside the primary tanks that run automatically to prevent sedimentation of the white ink. The machine’s vibrating system aims to keep white ink moving in order to prevent settling or separating.
Other features include a built-in degassing system, which helps to remove micro-bubbles from the bulk ink supply, and an enhanced heater and circulation system to help maintain the accurate temperatures needed during UV-curable printing. It provides fast warming of the ink supply and printheads to speed up start times.
The machine’s printhead carriage moves in both the X and Y axis to provide good print alignment for thick and heavy materials. It also boasts eight vacuum pumps with eight individual sections that can be turned on or off to suit different sizes of materials.
