Sheffield Hallam University launches photo kiosk service

Sheffield Hallam University is using the digital print technology of its Xerox DocuColor 5000 to launch a personalised photo product service for its students and staff.

The university has installed a Xerox Photo Kiosk in its printroom that will allow the 30,000 staff and students to use a raft of applications that are then printed on the DocuColor.

It can now offer digital photo albums, calendars and posters that can be personalised with both images and texts.

Paul Bishop, print services manager at Sheffield Hallam University, said the new offering was "an easy-to-use photo print service that delivers excellent value for money".

He added: "At the same time, the Xerox Photo Kiosk application will add a new revenue stream to our business by allowing us to harness the latest print applications without making a large investment in new printers.

"With Xerox’s Photo Kiosk and DocuColor machine, we now have the right tools in place to help grow digital print profit."

The Xerox Photo Kiosk was launched in 2008 and is pitched at customers wanting to create photographic products with a quick turnaround time.

Prices start from £5,000 and feature 60-plus templates, which allow for the placement of images and messages.
