According to the company, the sales boost means that Schneider’s Hamburg-based guillotine manufacturing factory has a full order book until late autumn.
Complete cutting systems were sold to customers in Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria, while an Australian firm replaced its 50 year-old Senator with a new one.
Schneider’s centrepiece at Drupa was its Roboload system for automatic jogger feeding, which attracted interest from German and other European customers.
The robot is equipped with a gripper that can transfer a ream of paper from a pallet to a jogger. The measuring of the sheet size and pallet layer can be managed automatically, and the system can handle a variety of paper and cardboard sizes, while only requiring a few metres of space.
Schneider has sold a Roboload for a sheet size of 70x100cm to a Belgium-based company and the first 7B sheet size Roboload has been sold to a German firm.
The Roboload was demonstrated in conjunction with an advanced four-cut cutting system for automated four-side trim, which eliminates the need for operator intervention.
At the heart of the system was the Senator S-Line 137H high-speed paper cutter, which features a patented direct hydraulic drive on both sides of its knife carrier, meaning less knife wear and higher cutting accuracy.
The 137H is also equipped with the Trimm-Master, a front table that automatically opens for waste removal, and a high-end large colour screen at its control terminal.
Schneider Senator also exhibited a number of options on its fully hydraulic S-Line 115H with XXL side tables. This machine includes CIP-4 data processing and holders specially designed for coated sheets.
One peripheral tactic used by Schneider to attract visitors to its stand at Drupa was to have a chef on hand to prepare meals for hungry attendees.
Schneider hails European sales success at Drupa
Schneider Senator has said 2008 was its most successful year at Drupa and led to the sale of a record number of guillotines and cutting systems to customers in countries spanning Europe and the Middle East.
