The Hull-based business has taken delivery of an EFI Vutek GS5000r roll-to-roll printer and a Zünd G3 flatbed cutter ahead of a site expansion that will double capacity to 16,000sqm early next year.
Rod Barratt, general manager of RMC Digital Print said: "Although the investment made in equipment seems to be a lot of money, for us it was a no brainer really.
"Prior to buying the hardware from Robert Horne we were outsourcing a significant amount of print business and it made perfect sense for us to invest further in our own operation."
The 20-staff company's new investments complement existing digital print firepower that comprises a Vutek QS3220 flatbed machine, a Mimaki JV33-13 roll-fed solvent printer and a 2.6m Roland AJ1000 printer.
According to Barratt, the GS5000r gives the company a competitive edge with its "incredible print speed and quality" offering production speeds up to 100sqm an hour.
The latest investments will enable RMC Digital Print to expand its product offering to the sign trade with Barratt eyeing growth in the exhibition and building wrap markets.
The Zünd G3 flatbed will also enablethe company to explore sales revenues in retail and the point of sale sectors.
Both machines were supplied by Robert Horne, who Barratt described as "brilliant" during the installation process.
"The delivery and installation has been seamless. Taking two weeks to install and with a week of intensive training it’s also reassuring to know that they are at the end of the phone with advice at anytime," he added.
