Lightfoot's 30-year career in high-volume printing has spanned senior roles at Ben Johnson, Watmoughs, RR Donnelley Poland, Garnett Dickinson, and Polestar.
Prior to joining the Telford-based web offset printer he was most recently general manager at Polestar Chantry.
Lightfoot has joined PCP on an initial six-month contract as operational consultant, with the intention that this will turn into a permanent position.
"I'm trying my level best to add value by improving press performance, reducing waste, and improving quality," he said.
PCP managing director Alex Evans said he was delighted at the appointment: "We wanted someone who could specifically help us with production operation improvement. David has already made a positive impact and he fits in with our ethos and culture."
Lightfoot is effectively a part-replacement for deputy managing director Richard Green, who retired at the end of last year.
Turnover at PCP was almost £35m in 2011. The firm employs around 230 staff and is part of the Claverley Group.
