The Carbon Disclosure Project's 2009 Nordic report ranked companies based on their climate change strategy, reporting of greenhouse gasses, and their openness about the climate challenges facing the company.
Christian Rynning-Tønnesen, president and chief executive of Norske Skog, said: "The ranking is an important recognition of our efforts to demonstrate openness in terms of emissions as targets for further emission reductions.
"Good disclosure routines are important to ensure continued focus internally and help enforce our commitment to further improvements."
It is the second time the business has participated in the report, which includes a detailed questionnaire about submitting CO2 emissions, targets for emission reductions, as well as business challenges and opportunities related to climate change.
Norske Skog has set a target to reduce its greenhouse emissions by 25% by 2020.
