The Accrington-based, 80-year-old firm will perfect-bind both litho and digital print on the new machine - work that was formerly outsourced to a nearby trade finisher.
The 28-staff printer expects the Eurobind to pay for itself within two years off the back of existing contracts, in addition to the on-going attraction to new clients.
Nayler Group managing director Alastair Nayler said the kit, which is already generating interest and orders, "will be a machine that sells print".
Nayler told printweek.com that he didn’t need to see the machine in action before investing as "the Heidelberg badge was enough for me.
"If it doesn't do what it says on the tin, I'll just send it back," he added.
He added that the firm has already taken on new short-run clients as it can offer cost-effective quality work coupled with quick turnaround times.
The EB600 single clamp binder offers speeds of up to 600 cycles an hour and features a touchscreen display, remote clamp opening and can be run with hot melts or PUR glues.
The company, which has also recently invested in a new five-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 74-5, plans to add lamination to its finishing battery later this year.
