Musicroom.com worked with West Sussex-based print firm Printed Word and software and web-to-print platform provider ISL for over a year to create a bespoke system that would allow visitors to the dedicated custombooks.musicroom.com site, to create their own personalised sheet music books.
Based on ISL’s Catfish W2P platform the system enables users to select sheet music, from a list of 28,000 songs by more than 3,600 artists, in order to compile their own customised book. Customers can also input their own text and images to create a personalised cover, as well as selecting from a choice of three bindings.
The books are then printed on Printed Word's Xerox 770 and 1000 and finished on its Unibind casemaker or Renz wire binder, depending on the binding choice.
Musicroom.com managing director Marcus Wise: “We looked at our existing digital strategy and noted that people were making more single sheet purchases so we thought creating a package for them was a great idea.
“We had this idea several years ago but it took a while for us to find such a sophisticated web-to-print platform to enable us to do this properly. We don’t just want to release products that don’t meet the same standards as our other products," he added.
"We needed high-quality stock, customised covers and of course high-quality printing and we feel we have really found that with Printed Word and the ISL platform. The ISL software also opens up endless options for upgrades and add-ons."
Wise said the business was already looking to develop the service further to enable increased customisation capabilities with additional creative templates as well as adding more artists and song arrangements.
