The Italian Chapel, which was published by Black & White Publishers, is the first by Paris, who is more used to writing about the print and graphics art industry.
The 272pp title takes in three years of research and writing and tells the true story of a chapel in Orkney that was built by Italian prisoners during World War Two.
Paris said: "The Italian Chapel, which is known around the world, is one of the greatest symbols of hope and peace to come out of the Second World War, but its story has never been told in any depth.
"Telling that story became quite a passion… and it did make a change from writing about finishing or spray dampening equipment!"
