The 30-staff business, which has been operating since 1986, specialises in manufacturing integrated label forms for the web retail market.
As part of the Cornwall Apprenticeship scheme, KCS has taken on three apprentices, Karl Worgan, Ben Wallace and Ross Savage, aged between 16 and 17 to be trained under the BPIF apprenticeship scheme.
“Young people in Cornwall need to be given the opportunity to enter and grow in the workplace,” said Rogerson. He added: “Leading local businesses like KCS are the key to giving the youth of Cornwall the self-confidence and skills they need.”
KCS managing director Terrye Teverson told PrintWeek: “We are looking for apprenticeships now, to allow us to grow in the future because we have found that training apprentices works very well for us. “Being situated on the Devon/Cornwall border, it is much easier for us to gain dedicated employees who are committed to the area than attempt to attract people from outside the area.”
She added: “We are very pleased that our local MP Dan Rogerson found the time to address us. The government is very keen to see apprentices in the workplace. All employers understand that academia has its place but training someone on the factory floor works well for KCS.”
The company is also looking for a new member of staff to be trained on its Tamarack Lebelling machine.
