The services will be available at a premium rate across products using 135 and 185gsm Kemiart Graph+ kraftliner, suitable for high-end corrugated packaging and point-of-sale displays.

Stock reserves will be kept at Metsä Board’s Antwerp facility and the company is using its slitting operations to ensure that the right size roll is available at all times.

Previously lead times could last 10 weeks during periods of high demand.

Customers across Western Europe in the UK, Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Benelux, Germany, Denmark and Poland can use the service.

Metsä Board sales support and coordination manager Leena Yliniemi said that the company was already receiving orders for the quick turnaround service after identifying a need in the market for express delivery.

She added: "It is difficult for our customers to predict the jobs that will come in as there are often urgent requests or new jobs. It is suitable for last-minute orders and short-term promotions, which are common in the promotional business. Even normal work is difficult to predict now, which is why customers will benefit from this quick service."
