The toner uses 30% renewable raw materials, is ‘food safe’ and, according to the manufacturer, generates 30% less CO2 than conventional toners.

The toner, which is still being tested, was unveiled at the show along with a new long-life imaging drum. Both products are part of the company’s Ecosys range.

"Ecosys is an essential contribution to environmental protection. It not only produces up to 75% less waste than conventional systems, but the drum also lasts up to 30 times longer than normal machines," said Oliver Kreth, general manager European marketing, Kyocera.

The company plans to supply Biomass toner for five models in the FS-series by the second half of 2012.
