KBA launches JDF networking arm at Drupa

A fledgling KBA offshoot has made its debut at Drupa to help companies make short work of networking their JDF-enabled systems.

The subsidiary, KBA Complete, launched a few weeks ago with the claim that, unlike some other providers, it could network all JDF-enabled systems and not just those from allied vendors.

Roland Kastner, managing director of KBA Complete, said: Drupa is compelling proof that [the decision of] setting up as a service provider was made at the right moment.

He defined networking not merely in terms of JDF links to the presses but as a holistic system encompassing financial accounting, logistics and distribution.

Response from trade professionals has strengthened our resolve to expand our activities at the earliest possible opportunity."

The company said it had booked a string of full-service contracts, most of them from German firms. It had also sold several MIS packages to international customers.

A key post-Drupa project would be to step up the development of RFID-controlled logistics systems for print enterprises, he said.

To this end, KBA Complete has entered into an alliance with Siemens, and is planning to install a pilot RFID-controlled logistics system before the year’s end.
