The subsidiary, KBA Complete, launched a few weeks ago with the claim that, unlike some other providers, it could network all JDF-enabled systems and not just those from allied vendors.

Roland Kastner, managing director of KBA Complete, said: Drupa is compelling proof that [the decision of] setting up as a service provider was made at the right moment.

He defined networking not merely in terms of JDF links to the presses but as a holistic system encompassing financial accounting, logistics and distribution.

The company said it had booked a string of full-service contracts, most of them from German firms. It had also sold several MIS packages to international customers.

A key post-Drupa project would be to step up the development of RFID-controlled logistics systems for print enterprises, he said.

To this end, KBA Complete has entered into an alliance with Siemens, and is planning to install a pilot RFID-controlled logistics system before the year’s end.
