The £1.5m-turnover company, which has 18 staff, wanted a new press to increase the quality of its digital output; it trialled the Ricoh C751, which was supplied by Heidelberg, for several months before making the decision to invest.
Hull-based Jadan Press, which is traditionally a Heidelberg house, opted for the £50,000-Ricoh press because of the quality of its output but also because of the partnership between Heidelberg and Ricoh.
Managing director Pam Wainman said: "We replaced our older press, which we had had for four years, because we felt we needed something more up-to-date; four years is a long time when it comes to digital technology, which has evolved so rapidly. There were a lot of jobs that we couldn’t run through the older press because we weren’t happy with the quality.
"We went for the Ricoh because we were impressed with the quality compared to some other digital presses that we looked at but also because we know Heidelberg as a company and we felt confident that we would get the back-up and support that we need."
Jadan Press also runs two perfecting presses, a five-colour and two-colour Speedmaster SM74, which are workflow linked via Pressroom Manager to the prepress area and to the company’s Suprasetter A75 ATL thermal platesetter.
Jadan Press has also recently added a Red Tie web-to-print facility to enable customers to log on and proof jobs online.
