Afinia

Afinia will introduce the L-801 inkjet digital label printer at Ipex. The Afinia L-801 is a high-speed, full-colour and high-resolution label printer designed to offer low cost of ownership. The print speeds of 18m/min, 216mm width and 1,600dpi resolution are thanks, says Afinia, to the Memjet third-generation static printheads. Also on show and new for 2014 is the R-635 laser printer, which can produce waterproof and durable labels on a variety of materials.

Alphasonics

Alphasonics will be exhibiting its pressroom cleaning equipment, including its range of anilox cleaners. Betasound, Enhanced SuperSweep and Active Cavitation will be introduced to the industry alongside improvements to Alphasonic’s established technology.

Apex Digital Graphics

Apex Digital Graphics, the official UK distributor of Ryobi printing equipment and UK dealer for Konica Minolta digital equipment, will be exhibiting near the Eco Zone in the South Hall. The company will be focusing on Ryobi’s LED-UV unit for its litho press range, the recently introduced VDP chemistry-free polyester-based platesetter, and a colour digital production machine from Konica Minolta.

Argos Solutions

Argos Solutions is a manufacturer of surface paper cleaning systems for web-based printing systems and UV coating equipment. The company’s UV coating machines are ‘cold cure’ enabling it to claim benefits for applications where the printed medium is not suited to the high curing temperatures needed using some other machines. In addition Argos Solutions offers a sheet turner unit enabling fully automatic duplex coating together with feeders and stackers. The company is launching its new UV selective coating solution at this its first Ipex, together with other live coating solutions, and is pairing with “a leading digital press manufacturer”.

Benford UV

Benford UV is a UK-based manufacturer of UV curing and IR/hot air drying systems. Benford specialises in retrofitting all makes and models of offset and digital printing machines worldwide. Launched at Ipex will be a single-lamp Eco UV version of its conventional/low-energy DualUV system for sheetfed presses. Visitors will be able to discuss the benefits of this system, which Benford states will include low initial and ongoing costs, lack of powder, multiple substrate versatility and high-quality, instantly dried output. 

Bluprint UK

Bluprint UK is a European agent for LMC Impression Jackets, PrintGuard glass bead films and Super Blue anti-marking systems. The company claims to have been the first able to supply all anti-marking needs from a single source and will celebrate 10 years of successful trading with clients and suppliers at its stand at Ipex. New for Ipex will be the Super Zone system and the Super Blue 4 anti-marking system for transfer and delivery cylinders. Bluprint UK will also showcase the new PrintGuard Regular jackets, comparing the solution directly with its PrintGuardPlus jackets. Ipex will also see the European launch of LMC Impression jackets and MicroGrain metal transfer jackets.

Copytrax

The Copytrax PrintMaster Cezanne (see Star product, p45) will make its first public appearance at Ipex. The printer is a compact A2-format UV flatbed decorative and industrial printer that can print directly onto objects up to 150mm deep, made from a wide range of materials. An alternative floor-standing model handles items up to 300mm deep. Copytrax says the UV ink adheres to almost any solid surface, including glass, metal, plastics, wood and ceramics. Slightly curved and uneven shapes can be printed on and the 300mm version includes a rotator for cylindrical items.

CyanX

West Yorkshire-based pressroom consumables supplier CyanX will be introducing several new products, although it would not reveal any specific details at time of going to press. 

Domino Printing Sciences

Domino Printing Sciences’ range of digital inkjet printers and control systems deliver solutions that can be integrated into existing production equipment for variable data printing applications including QR 2D codes, barcodes, addressing, versioning and messaging. Visitors to Domino’s stand will be able to watch a demonstration of the company’s K600i mono inkjet printer, which has a configurable print width from 108mm to 558mm, and delivers 600dpi high-resolution UV-curable print at speeds of 50-75m/min. Also showcased will be Domino’s Bitjet+ v4.5, capable of in-line printing of addresses, barcodes, 2D codes and graphics on all media types, with no extra drying equipment needed.

Continuing the trend of having samples and information rather than actual equipment on stand, EFI’s focus this Ipex will be very much on the pre-media front, with software showcased including its PrintSmith Vision, Pace, Monarch, Radius and Metrix systems. The company will also have plenty of samples on hand, though, in order to showcase the abilities of its super-wide, wide-format, label and ceramic inkjet presses and inks.

There will be a number of new product launches at this stand, including a new range of digital printers providing high-quality, short-run, low-cost-per-copy production on up to 600gsm products. There will also be the debut of a fully automated short-run one-piece mailing solution for three-side sealing. This is designed to give customers the opportunity to produce short-run digital one piece mailing products.

Epson

Epson will showcase its latest range of inkjet large-format, dye-sublimation, direct-to-garment, label and proofing printers, and a digital label press at Ipex. On stand will be three 64-inch SureColor SC-S wide-format printers; two SureColor SC-F dye-sublimation printers (44in and 64in), and the new SureColor SC-F direct-to-garment t-shirt printer. Epson will also be showing the SurePress L-4033AW digital label press with white ink, and demonstrating colour managed proofing on its flexible Stylus Pro wide-format printer.

The focus of the 600m2 stand will be ‘the power of inkjet’ for commercial  and label printers. The vendor will be producing a mix of traditional brochure, magazine, calendar, book, label, manual and poster work with run lengths from one up to 5,000 on the web press.

Goss International won’t be exhibiting any presses at Ipex. It will, however, be showing a range of samples of interest to label and packaging printers and converters, including labels and pouches printed on the new Goss Sunday Vpak web offset press. It will also be talking about its Magnum Compact press for newspapers and publishing. On the commercial print side, the firm will focus on its Sunday 5000 96pp press, to be installed at Polestar shortly, and York Mailing’s new 48pp Goss Sunday 4000 press.

Graphic Image Films

Graphic Image Films will introduce a new range of soft-touch films, which include Black Soft Touch and Metalised Soft Touch. These are available in both wet and thermal versions and are an extension of the now very popular soft-touch film, developed in Europe and introduced in the UK market by Graphic Image Films around three years ago. Within the Metalised range, Graphic Image Films is also introducing a solid blue and red metallic matt film that can be printed, embossed, foiled or have spot UV applied.

The Shinohara 75IV is a five-colour B2 machine, which will be shown with an optional coating unit. From the Hans Gronhi 52cm range, it will be showing the GH525 five-colour featuring the latest ‘closed loop’ on-the-run colour correction technology. The GH series has undergone a restyling and this machine will be the first to feature a new livery. Printers Superstore is the UK and Ireland distributor for Hans Gronhi and Shinohara presses.

Hololens

Hololens manufactures holographic, fresnel lens and platinum relief image (PRI) solutions, providing plastic film/transfer foil, hot stamping foil/cold foil, UV cast and cure film, paper, board and other substrates. PRI is a new technology to give a better effect than mechanical embossing, hologram and lenticular effects. It allows the company to create Fresnel lenses, metal brush, ultra fine mechanical embossing effects on thin plastic films, transferring foils, hot and cold foils and can be converted on to other substrates such as papers, cardboards, thick plastics and moulded plastic items. 

ITE

Inprinta will showcase the new Microprint inkjet capsule filter range which has been designed to ensure excellent particle retention through the use of pleated polymer filter packs. This, together with a porous polypropylene core, enables the capsule filter to provide an impermeable barrier to foreign particles.

Intec Printing Solutions will display printers designed for envelope printing and labels, those for heavy media up to 600gsm and 28pt board, as well as finishing kit. The company plans to show its Intec EDGE 850 label printer and new Intec label finishing solution for on demand label printing at the event. Intec will also be launching a new digital printer, the CS5000, that can print white and clear toner onto thick boards. 

Itec Graphic Machinery

Itec Graphic Machinery is a specialist dealer handling equipment such as Heidelberg, Komori, Mitsubishi and Roland Sheetfed presses. Itec can also fulfill post-press requirements with its bindery division, handling Polar, Stahl and Muller Martini finishing equipment. Itec will showcase equipment from its large stock holding facility, it says.

Komori Corporation

The Lithrone G-540, five-colour 720x1,030mm press with coater, to be exhibited at the Ipex Eco Zone will be demonstrating the green efficiency of the Komori’s H-UV drying technology, which offers printers the benefits of instant drying. 

Konica Minolta

Konica Minolta will be the largest exhibitor at Ipex this year. The star of the manufacturer’s stand will be the newly developed KM-1 B2 cut-sheet inkjet press. Outside of the more traditional printing, packaging and book publishing markets, newer applications will cover labels and packaging. Marketing automation, cross-media campaigns, colour management and managed print services will also be important areas of focus.

LumeJet

LumeJet specialises in the design, development and manufacture of ultra-high resolution digital printers for commercial printers and photobook professionals. The company recently launched its first product, the LumeJet S200 Printer, which will be at Ipex. Calibrated for RGB, LumeJet says the S200 combines photographic quality contone images, fine-line vector artwork and pin-sharp text (down to below 1pt size).

Martinez Ayala

The company, established in 1932, specialises in the manufacture of conventional offset sheetfed inks, varnishes and additives for the printing industry, exporting 60% of its production to some 40 countries. MCS

At Ipex, MCS will showcase its Eagle, which, the company claims offers a print width of up to 432mm in UV-curable and water-based formats. The MCS Eagle UV offers 600dpi at up to 100m/min while the Eagle H2O offers 600dpi at up to 150m/min.

Meech International

Meech International will be showcasing its static control systems, web cleaning and energy-efficient compressed air systems at Ipex 2014. Product highlights will include the full range of both contact and non-contact web cleaning systems, comprising of the CyClean, TakClean, VacClean and ShearClean. Also on show will be the recently released Hyperion 971IPS and Hyperion 929IPS static elimination bars. Both bars feature an integrated power supply and powerful ionisation for a wide range of industrial applications. 

MGI Digital Graphic Technology

MGI Digital Graphic Technology will be showcasing its entire line of digital printing and finishing solutions at Ipex. As one of the largest exhibitors with a booth of over 336m2, MGI will be hosting over 50 of its international distributors from around the world. The main attraction, however, is set to be the six new production solutions that will be previewed for the first time during the show. MGI will also unveil a new range of equipment for 3D embellishment for both smaller digital printing formats and large offset press applications.

OKI Systems UK

OKI will unveil “the industry’s first five-colour digital LED A3” printer at Ipex. The ES9541 is the first digital printer in its class to offer a fifth spot colour in either white or clear gloss. Also on show will be the C931, a four-colour digital LED A3 printer. The printer is designed for creative agencies and design teams where producing concepts as close to the proposed design as possible is essential for client approval. It can also be used as an office printer for day-to-day printing.

Primera Technology

Primera Technology is a manufacturer of label printing and finishing equipment, such as the CX1200e Color Label Press and FX1200e Digital Finisher. At Ipex the company will be presenting how the CX1200e can process runs of just a few labels to tens of thousands a day, combining high-resolution laser technology with fast print speed. The FX1200e performs laminating, digital die-cutting, waste matrix removal, slitting and rewinding in one automated process. Primera’s solution for pre-die cut label material is its new CX1000e Color Label Printer in combination with its FX1000e Matrix Removal System.

Riso wasn’t at Drupa, but it will be showing its low-cost, high-speed inkjet kit at Ipex. The firm will be showcasing the capability of its full-colour cut-sheet inkjet print engine, the ComColor X1, and unveiling new accessories that make it a cost-effective white paper solution. The Bridge fully integrated document mailing solution that prints, fold, inserts and seals in one seamless process, produced in partnership with Böwe Systec, will be launched.

Screen Europe

Screen Europe will showcase its print-on-demand inkjet presses, including the Truepress Jet520 and the new Truepress Jet L350UV digital label press. The Truepress Jet520 prints on rolls of inkjet paper, standard paper and uncoated paper up to 520mm wide. Its top printing speed of 130m/min enables fast turnarounds and efficient production of high print volumes says Screen. It has a maximum imaging resolution of 720dpi. The Truepress Jet L350UV is designed as an easy-to-use inkjet label press that delivers photo-realistic quality, fast job turnarounds and stable, colour consistent, output. The press prints widths up to 322mm and prints at a top speed of 50m/min. Visitors will also see customised gifting, cartons and promotional packaging products all printed on the B2 Truepress JetSX digital inkjet press.

Technotrans

Although the Technotrans stand won’t feature equipment there will be experts on hand to discuss a pressroom audit and also detail specific solutions for water treatment (right pH and hardness), filtration, bulk and cartridge based inking, temperature control and water-cooled peripherals and humidification. Hot topics discussed here will be Techntrans branching into digital press cooling and a ban of recycled r22 refrigerant due January 2015, says the company. Elsewhere the Technotrans beta.c.eco circulator will feature on the Eco Zone’s Komori HUV press. The circulator features digital scroll energy saving cooling technology which means that compressors which normally run either at 0 or 100% output, are able to operate at variable speed, saving energy and reducing carbon impact.

TheMagicTouch

image transfer solutions for full-colour decoration to a range of products
and applications. The latest solutions feature White Toner from selected OKI printers together with new WoW 7.7 transfer paper, and are designed for adding full-colour print to almost any garment regardless of colour or composition. The WoW process is designed to reduce labour and production costs by removing the cutting or weeding process of complex designs or images. The company says the new technology also enables the decoration of dark colour non-textile products such as ceramics, folders, binders, metal, wood and plastics.

UV-Technik

Videojet

Its variable data printing systems apply images onto direct mail and are particularly suitable, says the firm, for administrative institutions such as educational establishments and public authorities. The company will be showcasing the Videojet BX Series Binary Array inkjet printer, the Videojet 4320 inkjet printer and the Cheshire 7000 Series Transport Base. 

Xeikon

At Ipex, Xeikon will focus on its ‘Suites’ of end-to-end solutions for different applications, including folding cartons and commercial printing, with new Suites for book and document production to be launched at the show. The Suites include what Xeikon believes to be all the necessary elements to fulfil this end-to-end ideal, including software, consumables, equipment and recommended substrates. Printing live at the show will be Xeikon’s 3500 digital press, showcasing an automated short-run production process that allows brand owners to reduce time to market. The press will also be printing personalised cartons to highlight the potential for this type of application.

Xeretec
