Autobond, the UK manufacturer of thermal and water-based laminators, will display its digital inkjet spot UV machines, UV roller coating machines and encapsulating machines, as well as its line of laminating adhesives, which can be used on most makes of laminating machinery.

Cellcoat is a UK-based designer and manufacturer of print finishing equipment with 30 years’ experience. Cellcoat has recently designed a brand new line of thermal laminators for printers and print finishers, which will be on show at Ipex.
Col-Tec

Col-Tec will be showing a high speed suction feed collator at Ipex and demonstrate how it can gather a wide range of materials including single leaf 40gsm, coated and uncoated stock, card of various thicknesses, credit cards, Braille and folded items as well as 16- and 32-page sections. The vendor will showcase its new text recognition sensor, designed to ensure only correct material is loaded in the feed stations. A further development to be shown is an intelligent data program. Traditionally collators deliver sets in thousands or hundreds of thousands but they are all the same, ie sequential collation of calendars from January to December. This ID program will show 10 sets being collated, all of which have a different make-up.
Compact Foilers

Compact Foilers will be introducing its CF1000 Cold Foil and Cast and Cure application system at Ipex. The CF1000 is, says Compact Foilers, the world’s first compact, floor-level portable, high performance machine for producing cold foiling and 3D holographic effects in-line on multiple offset presses.

At Ipex Copytrax will launch its ExPress system, a high quality full-colour booklet maker. Also on show will be the A2 format UV flatbed decorative and industrial Copytrax PrintMaster Cezanne, making its first public appearance at the show.

At Ipex, CP Bourg will announce its Bourg bookletmaker ExPress, which is aimed at the high-quality full colour bookletmaking market. This inline bookletmaker has been designed to operate inline with the HP Indigo 7000 series digital press. The company, showing on the Integra stand, is also highlighting its new perfect binder, the Bourg BB3202. The BB3202 EVA/PUR configuration lets users mix or match collated content and covers from multiple offline digital or analogue printers through to Bourg BSF sheet feeder.
Cyklos

Czech company Cyklos will be showcasing its creasing, perforating, punching, corner rounding, folding and cutting kit on its stand. The company produces a range of equipment for low- and middle-range volumes.
D&K Group

D&K Group’s equipment ranges from desktop to fully automated systems for both laminating and encapsulating and also includes specialist equipment for picture framing. Further developments of Europa and Jupiter will be unveiled at Ipex, as well as innovations for wide-format finishing to go with the Atlas range of laminators. Staff will be on hand to discuss any bespoke machinery requirements or custom coating needs.
Duplo International

Duplo is to use Ipex as the launchpad for its latest multi-finishing device, which the company says increases the range of finishes offered by its established DC-645i “at least tenfold”. The new DC-646Pro slitter/cutter/creaser is said to offer up to eight slits, 25 cross-cuts and 20 creases in a single pass. The machine has a top speed of 30 sheets/min and can handle sheets from 370x999mm down to 210x210mm, with a minimum finished product size of 48x28mm. It has a stock range of 110-350gsm.
Encore Machinery

Encore Machinery will be launching a one-piece mailing line, designed to meet the new requirements from Royal Mail for mailers to be sealed on three sides. The mailing line, which operates at up to 14,000 mailers an hour, comprises a high volume, double headed Pit Stop, which creases and perforates in one pass. It feeds into a MB NET52 folding unit with timed pulse perforating and online hot melt gluing system prior to folding. A tabbing machine will also be demonstrated on the end of the folder as an alternative to gluing. Encore will also be demonstrating a range of high volume Pit Stop standalone and online creasers and perforators, which operate at up to 14,000 sheets an hour. The Pit Stop DH Speed double-headed creaser is said to create “letterpress-quality” creasing and perforating on all types of digitally printed stock in one pass. It is also possible to fit a wiro punch tool and a two- or four-hole drill punch. Also on display will be the Europa fully automatic laminator for sheets up to B2 size.
Fastbind/Maping

Fastbind machines are developed and manufactured by Maping Co, providers of finishing products for digital and photographic printing. Fastbind will demonstrate digital print finishing solutions including case making, personalised hardcovers and ring binders on demand up to 450x450mm, perfect binding, a hot-melt glue binding system for hard and soft cover books, and Precision side-stapling, a binding system for photobooks, catalogues and reports.
Foiltone

Foiltone, based in the UK, is a designer and manufacturer of cold foil and ‘cast and cure’ systems for retrofit to most sheet-fed and web-fed presses.
Friedheim International

Friedheim will be demonstrating the MBO M80 folding machine, its first UK appearance. The machine is described as a whole new concept in folding technology and ideal for B1 work. It has a maximum production speed of up to 230 m/min and ‘intuitive’ M1 touch screen. Details of other MBO folders and of a range of solutions for conventional print, digital print, binding, converting and packaging will also be available. Being demonstrated alongside the M80 will be a Palamides Delta 703 fully automatic stacking and banding delivery system, which will be processing 16-page folded output.

Global has two factory sites in Wakefield, housing what it says is one of the largest stocks of used UV coating and film laminating machinery for the finishing industry.

Grafitec specialises in used, bindery, print finishing and graphic equipment and will be introducing the latest examples of its equipment on the Ipex floor. The company also provides its own trained engineers to install, commission and train.
Ibis Integrated Bindery Systems

Ibis Integrated Bindery Systems will have a live-running saddle stitching system, with Ibis’s latest high-speed model Smart-binder SB-3 Plus producing booklets. The Ibis Smart-binder system offers a variety of high-quality saddle-bound booklet (and perfect bound) finishing options for high-volume variable-data output. The Smart-binder operates either in-line with a continuous web digital press, or from a roll (as being exhibited at Ipex), or from an offline sheet pile feeder. The SB-3 is fitted with the “unique” and patented Individual Sheet Gluing cold gluing system, which replaces the need for conventional wire-stitching.
Ideal Krug & Priester

At Ipex, Ideal Krug & Priester will present a range of solutions for professional cutting including systems for digital printing, home printing, small printing offices as well as in-office printing departments. Ideal offers guillotines for applications up to 720mm cutting length and 90mm cutting height. The company will debut its updated range of electrical guillotines. Changes include the introduction of easycut blade activating, as well as a touchpad for Ideal’s programmable guillotines.
Impression Technology Europe

Impression Technology Europe is showing a selection of label printing and finishing machinery from Rapid, Compress and Eclipse. It will launch the Eclipse LF350 digital label cutter and slitter, a machine which apparently marks a “dramatic” shift in focus for the UK manufacturer, established in 2005, from exclusively small footprint, entry-level label printing and cutting machines to kit compatible with more industrial digital label printers. Also on the ITE Ipex stand will be an Eclipse LF3 digital label cutter and slitter with a cut width if 100-220mm. ITE will be showcasing its new ability to cut blank as well as registered labels. RW-1 and UW-1 remind machines, a Compress LP4 digital label press, a Rapid D2 semi rotary die cutter and Rapid X1 and X2 printers, featuring Memjet heads, will also be on show.
Integra

The Integra stand will feature machines from four post-press manufacturers. Highlights will include the launch of the Sitma WM10, a patented automated book jacketing machine developed for the automatic production of plastic covers with two pockets for the protection of books, high speed tabbing/labelling machines from Profold and Mariani’s ultra high speed palletiser for newspapers (see Mariani’s entry below).
Intelligent Finishing Systems

A “zero makeready” Horizon HT-1000V variable three-knife trimmer will receive its UK launch at Ipex. The machine was shown by Horizon as a prototype at last year’s Drupa and was developed chiefly to go inline with perfect binding lines, either from Horizon or the likes of Muller Martini and Kolbus. The Horizon pXnet JDF-enabled HT-1000V features a barcode recognition system that automatically sets the trimmer. Alternatively it can also be set up via a user-friendly GUI. Other products IFS will be keen to showcase will include the Horizon BQ-270V and BQ-470 perfect binding systems, Horizon HT-30c trimmer and SPF/FC-200A booklet production line.
James Burn International

James Burn International will be demonstrating its Original Wire-O double loop binding system, along with a range of JBI designs, punching and wire binding equipment under the Lhermite brand name. JBI will also unveil a series of semi-automatic and inline Wire-O binders.
KAS Paper Systems

Flexible mailing systems provider KAS Paper Systems will be demonstrating the Mailmaster 465HS and Mailmaster 565HS envelope inserters. The Mailmaster 465HS inserts into envelope sizes between DL and over-sized C4 at speeds of up to 6,000 completed envelopes an hour, while the Mailmaster 565HS inserts into envelope sizes up to C5 at speeds of more than 7,000 per hour. Additional features include sheet feeders with accumulation and folding in-line, OMR, BCR or 2D reading facilities, touchscreen control, management information and inline stapling. The company will also be demonstrating its print finishing equipment creasers and bookletmakers, including its CreaseMatic range of creasers. The Auto50 is a high speed SRA2 suction-fed, fully programmable card creaser, which operates at up to 8,000 sph. KASfold Bookletmakers and ancillary equipment, such as a trimmer, will also be exhibited.

Mariani SRL is a manufacturer of high speed palletising solutions. It produces low level, high level and robotic palletising solutions for the printing industry. The latest development in the company’s range is the ultra high speed palletiser for newspapers, which is designed to allow customers to convey, palletise and wrap with minimal labour. This will be discussed on the Integra stand.
MB Bauerle

MB Bauerle’s main focus is automated folding and inserting systems. Centre stage on its Ipex stand this year will be the new prestigeFold Net 38 / prestigeFold Net 52, with automatic controls and settings, the autoSET 18 / autoSet XT inserting systems, and multipageMailer which is designed to allow the production of an individual cover letter with matching envelope in a single pass.

As one of the largest exhibitors, with a booth of more than 336sqm, MGI will be hosting over 50 of its international distributors. The main attraction, however, is its preview of six new production solutions.
Morgana Systems

Morgana will preview the DigiFold Pro and AutoCreaser Pro at this month’s Ipex. One of the key changes from previous DigiFold models is the introduction of a high-capacity vacuum top-feeder that can take a sheet pile of up to 500mm. Other new features include dual creasing blades, which can be set for up and down creasing profiles, or for different thickness of crease, and automatic set-up of the folding rollers. Morgana is also launching its next generation of air- assisted feeders for its range of bookletmakers. Taking centre stage will be the new System AF2000S bookletmaking line, which will be fed by the new AF602 high capacity feeder. This dual-bin feeder can be loaded with up to 540mm of pre-collated sets from a digital print engine and can feed at up to 15,000 sheets per hour. Other bookletmaking systems on show include the System 200e being fed by the AC510 feeder and the entry-level BM60 hand-fed machine for lower volume print shops and CRDs. Morgana will also have its range of DigiBook PUR perfect binding machines on show.

Perfect Bindery Solutions is launching the Palamides/Ribler Smartliner240 binder for lay-flat books, Foil Xpress for larger formats and the Smyth Digital 88 sewing machine designed to turn flat sheets into sewn books. The company’s new involvement with US laser cutting technology specialist Lasex enables advanced intricacies ideal for greetings cards, box production and other decorative finishes. The system is also capable of robotic sorting of mixed products.
Plockmatic International

Plockmatic International, Morgana’s parent company, will be represented at Ipex on the Morgana Systems booth. As well as the range of bookletmaking systems sold under the Morgana and Plockmatic brands, the company will also be demonstrating the PL 4000 Direct Mail Inserter. This mailing system can handle complex mixed format inserting of a wide range of materials – including booklets – and is capable of up to 200,000 units per month.

Primera Technology will showcase its label printing and finishing equipment, including the FX1200e Digital Finisher. FX1200e is designed to perform all required finishing steps – laminating, digital die-cutting, waste matrix removal, slitting and rewinding – in one automated process. Primera’s solution for pre-die-cut label material is its new CX1000e Color Label Printer in combination with its FX1000e Matrix Removal System.

Running on the stand will be the company’s Linx Pro+ tabbing machine, which runs up to 30,000 products per hour. Profold is also announcing at the show its new card personalisation system. The system incorporates a remodelled air transport bed, new software and Profold’s latest double-headed magnetic encoder.

At the show, the double loop Rilematic wire in spools will be exhibited. This product can be purchased in customer-defined lengths and in standard office boxes, in 15 different diameters and 23 different colours.

Scodix will launch for the first time in the UK the Scodix Ultra machine, which had its US launch in Chicago a few months ago. The Ultra is a faster version of the S75 digital embellishment printer. During the show Scodix will be producing thousands of samples daily and also offering offsite visits to a local user who is running the S75.

Setmaster collators have been in production for 40 years, starting in Manchester in 1974. Since then the Setmaster has become known as the workhorse of the collating industry, being used in a wide range of print houses, both in the UK and overseas.

Sitma will launch the Sitma WM10, a patented automated book jacketing machine developed for the automatic production of plastic covers with two pockets for the protection of books. The machine is designed to allow different sizes of covers to be produced with no adjustment. Sitma will also use Ipex to demonstrate, it says, how its WM30 wrapper is the ideal solution to wrap a wide range of documents in paper. The solution creates envelopes with dimensions from C6/5 up to C4, with a mechanical speed of up to 30,000 cycles per hour. Envelopes with or without windows can be created with straight or V-shaped edges. The system provides various chip-out capabilities to remove a fixed or variable size to accommodate a full color print bleed.

Tech-ni-Fold, in association with its sister company CreaseStream, will be showcasing three cost-effective digital creasing and perforating solutions that can be assembled without users referring to written or DVD manuals. The CreaseStream mini range of products bridge the gap between slower push-down handle methods of creasing and high-end solutions, says the company. The mini-standard and mini-Quick-feed are both driven by a handle. The mini-Quick-feed has a special sheet feeding system. The handle is replaced by a motor on the mini-Auto-feed as output can average more than 4,000 sheets per hour.
Technowrapp

Technowrapp manufactures high-speed pallet wrapping solutions that require minimal film to wrap pallets. Ipex will feature Technowrapp’s latest development, a fast wrapping system named the B300. The B300 incorporates patented technology to enable ‘perfect stretch wrapping’ at 45 rotations per minute. Technowrapp can also offer lower-end semi automatic solutions.

Vivid Laminating Technologies

Ipex will see Vivid launch three roll film laminators. The vendor has created pneumatic versions of its MX-370 and MX-530 models, able to run up to twice the speed of the standard models, which are still available. The extra pressure through pneumatic rollers also allows certain digitally printed substrates to now be laminated using standard OPP film. The third system being launched at Ipex is the Duplex version of the MX-530. Vivid will also be presenting its Easymount range of wide format laminators. On the trimming side of things, the company will exhibit its Trimfast A-Frame Vertical Multi Substrate Cutters, used for cutting foam board, PVC, corrugated card, plastic, aluminium composite, MDF and scoring acrylic. The A-Frame is now available in three height options and will be featured at the show.
Watkiss Automation

Watkiss Automation specialises in bookletmaking and print finishing solutions for both offset litho and digital print. On show for the first time will be the PowerSquare 224 featuring dynamic auto-adjustment for hands-free production when streaming data and variable pagination documents. Watkiss will also debut new bookletmaking systems aimed at the digital print user.

Zünd

At Ipex, Zünd is introducing the new automatic sheetfeeder for the S3 cutter series, offering reliable loading and advancing of sheeted materials. It will also demonstrate the Tandem vacuum system, which allows for efficient loading and unloading of materials on one side of the cutter, while production continues on the other. This pendulum workflow saves time and increases productivity by keeping idle time to a minimum. It will also showcase the Zünd Design Center, enabling customers to create professional-quality packaging and displays directly in Adobe Illustrator. The core of the software consists of a comprehensive library of parametric designs. Finally, new high speed EOT 250 will be processing sandwich-board materials such as X-Board and Reboard up to a thickness of 22mm.
