Called Ecobind, the product is a wire coated with an eco-friendly polymer derived from natural sources. Unlike oil-based solutions, this coating decomposes completely when sent to landfill. Bekaert claims that the amount of CO2 emitted by decomposing green polymers is the same amount as has been absorbed by the plant of which the raw product was derived. It’s a product that’s been in development for several years and will be presented alongside another unusual exhibit, glow-in-the-dark binding wire.
