India records solid presence at Drupa 2008

There were no flashy announcements or big deals, but the Indian exhibitors had a solid innings at Drupa.

Indian newspaper press manufacturers Manugraph India, The Printers House, Grafitek International, KK Printing and Perfect Rotary Offset were tight-lipped about orders but most of them spoke about "hot enquiries" from Russia, Ukraine and the Middle East.

Proteck booked a healthy number of orders for its FlexCoater 105, which is a high-speed coater for spot- and full-coating of paper and board.

TechNova introduced its MetiJet plate and said it hopes to extend its concept of "CTP technology with PS plates" to growing markets such as Middle East and Eastern Europe.

Coimbatore-based Macrobond booked orders for its automatic thermal laminators from South America, Croatia, Serbia, Nigeria and Kenya, while Faridabad-based Abhishek Print Line, which has installed more than 4000 units in India, had customers enquiring about its UV-curing system.

Pune-based Pratham Technologies was also in the spotlight at Drupa, where its paper-folding machine, which has been tested for CE marking and benchmarked, was eyed by printers in Europe.
