HP's Designjet Z6200, which was unveiled last September as a replacement for the Z6100, is capable of 140sqm per hour throughput and can produce photo-quality prints at 2,400dpi.
It uses HP Vivid Photo Inks, which are said to be extremely light-fast and offer a wider colour spectrum that makes them suitable for difficult photo printing tasks.GMG UK technical sales consultant Simon Landau said ColorProof allowed large-format printers to guarantee colour accuracy and consistency on repeat jobs and across multiple output devices.
"Within the ColorProof RIP we have advanced control over the built-in spectrophotometers in these devices, which enables us to actually calibrate the devices to a proofing-type standard," he explained.
"This means you’re more able to load-balance POS jobs across multiple printers and also reprint POS and large-format print jobs with absolute colour accuracy."
Landau added that colour accuracy was becoming "more and more important" in the large-format POS market. "High-end colour management has really caught on in repro and commercial print and now it’s filtering into the wide-format display market, " he said.
"Clients are becoming more demanding of colour consistency across all their campaigns."
