The exhibition will be held at the Truman Brewery in London and runs from 4-10 November.
Monotype has teamed up with a number of partners for the event, and is bringing together artefacts from its own collection together with items from the Letterform Archive, Ditchling Museum of Art & Craft and the Typography Workshop for the first time.
The exhibition includes historic materials such as correspondence between Gill and Stanley Morison, the designer of Times New Roman, as well as original drawings for Gill’s Perpetua and Joanna typefaces.
It includes interactive elements including the opportunity for visitors to “set supersized glyphs on a giant magnetic wall”.
There will also be a panel discussion at 6pm on Friday 6 November, 'Me and Mr Gill' hosted by Eye magazine editor John Walters.
The event also features three bespoke craft beers from Five Points Brewery. “The name, flavour and packaging of each beer reflects its typographic inspiration,” Monotype said.

US-headquartered Monotype has more than 20,000 typefaces in its library. Its product range has expanded beyond the firm’s print origins to include fonts specifically created for websites, games, apps and car dashboards.
