The Poynton, Cheshire-based firm has bought the GMG ColorProof software to drive its two 44in Epson Stylus Pro 9890 SpectroProofers for the production of high-accuracy digital proofs.
Used alongside GMG ColorServer it will deliver consistent colour print results and reduce makeready times and paper waste.
The firm also uses the GMG Ink Optimizer software, for fully automated ink reduction, and is currently in the process of setting up CoZone Collaborate, GMG’s web platform, which includes a collaborative cloud-based content approval and monitor proofing workflow.
This will enable the business to manage, review, proof and approve jobs within a secure online-hosted soft-proofing environment.
“We’re always looking for ways to tailor our colour critical service and we monitor the market carefully for the latest software solutions,” said sales and business development manager Matt Galloway.
“Through our meetings and discussions with GMG we felt that it would be an excellent partner for us and that its products would help us to achieve our goals.
“We were impressed with the results of the press/ink tests and the clarity and detail highlighted in the reports. We produce a lot of colour-critical work matching print to a physical product so our expectations were extremely high, but so far we have been very happy with the solutions recommended by GMG.”
As well as the two Epson proofers, the company also operates a five-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105 press, a six-colour Speedmaster CD 102 press and a Ricoh Pro C751EX production printer.
With the GMG software the company is now able to calibrate its proofers, digital printers and litho presses to the same standard each day.
Galloway said: “Our investment has given us even greater confidence in our proof versus print results and the flexibility of producing both coated and uncoated proofs for approval is proving a real hit with our clients.”
The firm, which has 42 staff and a turnover of £3.5m, produces a wide variety of print for major advertising, design and marketing agencies and a diverse range of end-users.
