The P7000 was delivered in mid-October to the company’s Daventry base. It replaces an Epson Stylus Pro 7900 Spectro proofer, one of several at Creation.
The company, which offers platemaking and repro services, spent around £6,000 on the new machines.
Managing director Matt Francklow said: “Our 7900s are good machines, but we had started having problems with the accuracy of our colour management and so we wanted the best that we could possibly get.
“We will use it to output proofs that can simulate the conditions on the press for our clients – it will mean they are more colour-accurate and a better representation of what they will get in the finished produce.
“It will complement the rest of our Epson gear and run using our GMG colour management software to make sure everything is top notch.”
Able to print onto paper formats up to 610x432mm, the Epson SureColor SC-P7000 STD can produce 98% of Pantone-certified colours using its 10-colour inkset and Epson TFP PrecisionCore printhead. Using the X-Rite i1iO, a robotic chart-reading system, it will be enhanced with the ability to conduct hands-free test chart readings for colour profiling.
Creation has clients across food and beverage, personal and home care, pharmaceutical and horticulture sectors, and designs solutions for labelling, folding cartons and rigid and flexible packaging.
It employs 18 members of staff and currently has a turnover of £1.7m.
