Outgoing News International managing director of operations Ian McDonald celebrated the end of a distinguished career in print by picking up the Lifetime Achievement award. At the other end of his career, ESP Colour's Baden McKenna took the Apprentice award.
Inspirepac picked up the other overall award for Company of the Year with more than 100 employees.
"We are delighted to be showcasing the most innovative and creative companies in the UK printing industry through these awards," said BPIF chief executive Michael Johnson. "It was Aristotle who once said ‘Excellence is not an act, but a habit', like all good habits, excellence requires hard work and continual effort."
The event, held at lunchtime today at the London Hilton, also heard from Dsicmm chief executive Yolanda Noble, Entrepreneur of the Year in 2008, who shared her experiences in a pre-ceremony keynote speech.

Excellence Awards 2009 winners announced
Simon Biltcliffe has done the double at this afternoon's BPIF PrintWeek Excellence Awards, picking up the Company of the Year (fewer than 100 employees) gong on behalf of his firm Webmart, as well as the Entrepreneur award for his own dedication and drive.
