The EX Print Server powered by Fiery, which features enhanced colour management tools and in-line output profiling, can be seen driving the iGen4 press on Xerox Corporation's stand at On Demand Conference & Exposition in the US.
EFI said the new integrated and automated tools in the EX Print Server completely removed the guesswork from achieving colour quality and consistency, resulting in professional quality colour "out of the box".
The EX Print Server will be one of the first to ship with EFI's new Fiery Command WorkStation 5, which centralises job management, allowing jobs to be produced faster and reducing operator mistakes by up to 30%, as well as decreasing waste.
John Henze, vice president of marketing at EFI Fiery, said: "The Fiery-driven iGen4 press is another example of EFI and Xerox working together to deliver outstanding image quality, maximum speed and unsurpassed reliability required by the most demanding print service providers.
"In particular, by joining profile-making tools with Fiery's already powerful colour management features, customers can achieve seamless and automated end-to-end colour managed workflows."
Gina Testa, vice president at Xerox's Worldwide Graphic Communications Industry Business, added: "The powerful combination of the Xerox iGen4 and the Fiery enables print providers to more easily handle higher profit and complex jobs, while ensuring customer satisfaction and repeat orders."
The Xerox iGen4 is claimed to be the first digital press to include an In Line Spectrophotometer (ILS).
EFI said that integrated profile-making using its Color Profiler Suite would "ensure accurate colours and maximum gamut utilisation", while Fiery Spot-On for spot colour management allows for dynamic Pantone colour adjustments.
In addition, the Fiery SeeQuence Suite of makeready software tools simplifies and automates labour intensive document preparation activities, allowing operators to set up jobs accurately and soft proof.
EFI Fiery for the Xerox iGen4 press is expected to be available in Q2.
Xerox Corporation can be found on booth 2000 at the On Demand Conference & Exposition, which is being held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center from 31 March to 2 April.
