If you visited stationery manufacturer Duraweld last month, you might have been greeted by production manager Paul Moore in a pink woman's hoodie and account manager Caron Webster in pink pyjamas.
The Scarborough-based company’s entire staff wore pink for a day in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
"Caron didn’t have anything so she had to settle for pink pyjamas," said marketing and development executive Harry Iles. "I think Paul borrowed the hoodie off his daughter – unless there’s something he’s not telling us, that is," he added.
Iles came up with the idea, drawing inspiration from Duraweld’s new CTC Italia paper-over-board machine, which employees have dubbed ‘The Pink Lady’.
So did Duraweld’s customers notice anything different? "Luckily we deal with clients over the phone. If they had come in they might have had a shock," Iles said.
