Last week Duplo opened its doors to visitors outside of the UK for its fourth London Calling Rocks show at London’s 02.
Just under £400,000 of the total orders were made by UK customers, and clients as far afield as Finland signed deals with the finishing manufacturer.
Newly-appointed Duplo UK marketing manager Marc Legge said: "We weren’t quite sure how opening the show up to be international would function but I can’t see any reason why we wouldn’t do it again."
Over the two days, 157 companies and 237 people visited the 02’s British Music Experience museum to see equipment from Duplo, Esko, Vpress, Balreed, Fujifilm and Duplo's latest partner, Fastback.
Tunbridge Wells-based NXP Europe made a substantial £125,000 investment at the show, including a surprise order for Esko’s IXE10 die cutter.
The deal, which also comprised a Duplo bookletmaker 3500 and DC-645 multi-finisher, marked NXP’s first Duplo kit investment in 10 years, according to NXP owner Peter Doyle.
He said: "The Esko was smaller and more flexible than other diecutters I’d seen and the Duplo kit is the right fit for what we are looking for, so it was a no brainer."
