He brings a digital influence to the council that primarily features figures from the litho and post-press sectors such as George Clark from Heidelberg, KBA's Christian Knapp, Robert Flather from Kolbus, Andreas Schillinger from Muller Martin and Friedheim International's Peter Morris.
Mulvaney, who joined Danwood in 2005, helped set up Picon's digital focus group in 2009 and said that the association will continue to target issues affecting digital suppliers and their customers.
"We want to raise the profile of digital print and the important role it plays in the industry. One of the key issues affecting the sector is finance and access to that. We will lobby government on behalf of the industry to highlight this with the aim of addressing those problems," he said.
Commenting on Mulvaney's appointment, Morris said: "It's important that the Picon Council represents our full membership and the broader UK supplier landscape. Gerry brings extensive contemporary digital print industry knowledge and energy and will be a valuable asset to the work we do."
