The Printing Industry Confederation, trade organisation Picon represents manufacturers and suppliers of graphic arts equipment in the UK.
Both Lawn and Turner have been regular attendees at Picon events and said they appreciated the value of the trade organisation for print suppliers, particularly over the challenging past few years that have seen Brexit, Covid, and changes in the structure of the industry.
Turner said: “The Picon member companies are diverse in their product ranges, the markets they operate in and the size of their organisations.
“Picon strives to offer value to all its members, be it: creating opportunities to attend seminars that are interesting, relevant and educational; organising high quality networking events with peers; or providing information and help on employment and training programmes.
“It is the responsibility of the council to engage with members, listen to their views and consider how best it can offer support.”
Lawn, meanwhile, laid out his vision of the direction he would like Picon to take.
“Our industry needs young talent, with fresh ideas and perspective. To evolve, thrive and remain relevant we need to bring new ideas, initiatives, and energy.
“This also serves to inform other similar topics such as diversity and inclusivity. Picon has an important role to play in supporting members to achieve these goals.”
In addition to attending council meetings, focus groups, and networking events, both said they recognised they would be on call to ensure that Picon continues to offer an environment which encourages informed discussion and debate, sparks ideas, and helps members navigate the challenges facing them, from recruitment through to energy and waste.
Others serving on the Picon council include chairman James Boughton (Edale); Ryan Miles (Heidelberg); Iain Bullock (Renz); Stuart Murphy (Rollem); Tim Klemz (Compact Engineering, BPMSA representative); Greg Bird (Kolbus – elected onto the council late last year); Kevin O’Donnell (Xerox); Mark Bristow (Friedheim); Neil Jones (Bobst); and Peter Murphy (Turnbull & Scott, BPMSA representative).
