The Lenham, Kent-based waste management company will recycle a variety of waste, including paper, cardboard, plastic and wood for Pureprint Group in Uckfield, Headley Brothers in Ashford and Mastercolour in Tunbridge Wells.

The contracts have all been awarded over the past three months. The Pureprint and Headley Brothers contracts will cover two years while the Mastercolour contract will span three years.

The print industry is a new area for Countrystyle, which handles over 500,000 tonnes of waste from over 2,000 customers every year, but has not worked with any print businesses prior to now.

Countrystyle aims to improve the sustainability of each company’s operations by diverting waste from landfill. The firm estimates that the three contracts will see over 8,000 tonnes of material diverted each year.

Countrystyle will provide dedicated recycling containers and equipment to the printers to make the process as efficient and simple as possible for each business.

The materials will be collected by Countrystyle’s fleet of vehicles and transported to its baling facility at Lenham. 100% of the waste will then be recycled or packaged for use as recovered paper, as opposed to being sent to landfill.

“Also, being Kent-based ourselves, we can provide a local solution for waste and recycling.” 

Pureprint safety, health and environmental manager Paul Pettitt added: “We are very pleased to have engaged Countrystyle Recycling as our waste and recycling contractor.

“Although we are as resource-efficient as possible, we do generate paper waste, along with related materials such as cardboard and plastic, and it is important to us to know that these materials will be treated in the most environmentally friendly way possible.”

Countrystyle, which was established in 1996, continues to expand its operations to provide recycling and resource management for local authorities, businesses and the general public.
