The deal will see the Blandford-based business collect and process waste for Communisis sites at Crewe, Liverpool, Halifax, Leeds and Newcastle, where the business operates both litho and digital print facilities.
Ink containers, toner, plastic packaging, filters and mineral oil will be included in 60 different waste streams, the majority of which will be headed for J&G’s recycling facilities.
J&G will supply Communisis with a range of pre-collection waste storage consumables, including metal plate stillages and lidded drums.
The contract formalises an existing relationship between the two businesses.
J&G sales manager Ian Paulley said: “This is a prestigious contract to have. Communisis said they chose us because of our level of service and pricing.”
Communisis Group health, safety and environment manager Mark Hoile added: “We’ve been working with J&G for a number of years and have been very satisfied with their performance. This contract will give both parties improved control and awareness of waste management costs.
“Efficient waste management across all our sites is an integral part of the company’s environmental policy. J&G’s commitment to sustainability in the industry, and its recycling record, fits perfectly with our needs.”
J&G was acquired by Cleansing Service Group (CSG) in 2008 and is now the specialist printing waste management division of the group.
CSG then acquired Saxon Recycling in 2013, which is headed up by J&G’s management. CSG now employs over 500 people, 60 of which work for J&G.
J&G also provides waste management services for print giants including Polestar and St Ives.
Earlier this year the firm moved into the consumables supply market for the first time when it launched its own range of specialist pressroom consumables. Paulley said the venture has “taken off better than we could have ever anticipated”.
