The press - a six-colour B1 Roland R700 LTTLV UV offset press - was installed in mid-November and has replaced an old six-colour B2 Roland R300. It will complement an existing eight-colour R700 at the site.
In addition to its six litho printing units, the press is equipped with two flexo coating units - compared with eight printing and one coating unit on the existing R700 - full UV and IR drying and closed-loop colour control.
Chesapeake Hillington operations manager Gary Carroll said: "The R700 replaces an older, smaller press and supports the site’s growth strategy, whilst extending our capabilities.
"The press ideally complements the site’s existing R700 and the additional capacity will allow the site to produce a greater volume and range of products. It will also help strengthen the quality and service levels we deliver to our customers."
Chesapeake Hillington has around 70 staff and produces wet glue labels and tube wraps - primarily for the drinks market - as well as swing-tags, booklets and collarettes.
Carroll said that further investment in the site was in the pipeline but details had yet to be finalised.
Last year Chesapeake installed a record-breaking 17 unit B1 press at its East Kilbride plant.
