BGP picks up relaunched Dandy contract

Web offset printer BGP has picked up the contract to print the newly relaunched Dandy magazine.

The UK's oldest comic book has been in print since 1937 and now includes "a traditional comic strip format and a cheaper price point".

BGP started printing the DC Thomson & Co-published title, which has an average circulation of 14,355 accordind to its latest ABC figures, in October.

Craig Graham, editor-in-chief of Dandy, said: "We're providing something quite different to our competitors in terms of content, format and price-point that's based on the unique Dandy heritage."

New characters include Pepperoni Pig, Postman Prat, Y-Factor, Bear Thrills and Bill Oddie-Watch, and a comic strip written by comedian Harry Hill.

Readers will also be able to decide which characters stay and who will be relegated. BGP was unavailable for comment at the time of writing.
