Beta Industries to launch Electronic Ruler and Micro Dottie 2

Quality control specialist Beta Industries will unveil several new launches at this year's Print 09, including an electronic measuring device and a handheld USB video microscope for checking print quality.

The Beta Precision Electronic Ruler checks material measurements, as well as substrate stretch and size differences, between all stages of the process before the print run.

It can be used for measuring, viewing and documenting register and repeat length.

According to Beta Industries, it can also be used on anything that requires precise, non-contact measurements of large and small distances of films, plates, dies, prints and flexo microdots.

The Micro Dottie 2 is a USB, CMYK/spot colour video microscope complete with a digital micrometer for critical viewing, analysis and PC image capture.

It allows the user to view and store fine print and other details to their PC in a handheld video viewer. The viewer can give magnification up to 140x.

Stuart Serchuk, director of sales and marketing, said: "An important distinction of Beta Industries has always been our readily available product support, competitive price point and innovative user-friendly products."

He added that key highlights for the show, also included an entry-level scanner, the BetaScan Pro, and the S7 Spectro XPress handheld Spectro Densitometer, which he said is priced to address the economic needs of the printer while providing all important Spectro-Densitometer features found in other devices.

Serchuk said that the company is "cautiously optimistic" about attendance at this year's show.

"Historically, Print has always been a good show for us with excellent traffic of both end-users and resellers looking for new products for both domestic and international markets."

Print 09 is due to take place on 11-16 September, in Chicago, US.
