The industrial press, which was installed at the firm’s premises in Cramlington, Northumberland in May, replaced a large-format litho press which was sold on.
“We made the investment to cope with the influx of additional work that we’ve had recently. We’ve grown very rapidly over the last few years,” said managing director Will Skelchy.
“A few years ago we were small on digital and big on large-format litho and screen. But continually investing in new digital technology has kept us going as a business and taken our sales to higher levels.”
The firm's £4m worth of investment over the past 18 months has included the FB10000, small-format Ricoh and Xerox digital presses, Kongsberg cutting tables and Tharstern MIS software. It has seen its demand increase significantly since it invested in two HP Scitex FB 7600’s in 2012 and 2013.
The HP Scitex FB10000 can print at up to 625sqm/hr and it has the ability to print on very thin substrates as well as those up to 25mm. It can be used to produce POS, 3D displays, short-run packaging, backlits, posters, banners and event graphics.
B-Print & Display Group plans to order a second FB10000 in the next few weeks, which it hopes will be installed before the end of the year.
The company has 72 staff and a turnover in excess of £8m. It produces a range of POS, large-format and general print for a predominantly blue chip client base in the retail sector.
